✱✱Book Review✱✱ Fall in Kentbury by Claudia Burgoa

USA Today bestselling author Claudia Burgoa invites you back to the small town of Kentbury with this swoony novella where frenemies become more, and the failed one-night stand might fall for more than the season.

Everything is falling apart.

I just got fired—by my father.

My boyfriend decided I wasn’t good enough—during my Grandma’s funeral.

That hot guy I met at the bar—I didn’t get one kiss from him.

All I have left is to start a new life.

But before I embark into the unknown, I head to Kentbury.

Someone has to warn my paternal grandmother that her son wants to leave her destitute.

And who do I find instead?

Tall, hot, and delicious Bishop Harris.

My failed one-night stand.

He’s trying to run me out of town.

But between the autumn festivals, apple picking, and hard cider, things get a lot more interesting

I go from trying to avoid the small town to wondering if I can spend more than Fall in Kentbury.

Momma Says: 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It's back to Kentbury for Fall, and Claudia Burgoa paints a vivid picture of this small town and its quirky citizens. This one covers a variety of tropes, including enemies to lovers. The fire between McKay and Bishop builds until they cross that thin line between love and hate. Then, the chemistry is off the charts. Given that Fall in Kentbury is a novella, I'll leave the rest for you to discover on your own. The book is easily read in an afternoon or evening, and at this time of year, it goes perfectly with some cocoa next to the fire.

Momma Says: 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If, after reading Fall in Kentbury, you want to experience it all again (raises hand), then Grace Grant and Joe Arden are terrific on the audiobook. I've listened to and enjoyed both narrators several times, and they don't disappoint here. Grace Grant captures McKay's insecurities and anxiety perfectly, and Joe Arden is great with Bishop, from his determination to see McKay out of town to his determination to keep her in town.
So, we have another swoony read from Claudia Burgoa, and she's made excellent choices for the narration. Fall in Kentbury is a great combination of sweet and sexy, and I can't wait to see what's next for this quirky little town.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐

Bitten was an entertaining listen from start to finish. The romance does happen really fast, and instalove doesn't always work for me, but this is paranormal romance, and it's really hard not to be completely okay with a whole lotta instalove when you're listening to an engaging story performed by Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross. The story is a quick listen, and it's really more steamy than erotic in my opinion. What I really like is that Nicole Garcia doesn't let the storyline fall short, which happens all too often in erotic romances. Bitten may be plenty steamy, but there's also some intrigue in there along with the threat of danger. This is the first in a series, but we get a satisfactory conclusion. There is a continuing storyline, and I'm interested to see where that goes as well as which one of Carissa's coven gets the next romance.
If you've never listened to an audiobook narrated by Kai and Wen, you don't know what you're missing. They do a phenomenal job, and it's not just dual POV, it's a total immersion in the story. In this case, it's a total immersion in Nicole Garcia's Bitten, and it all comes together for a sexy, fun romance with a bit of intrigue to ponder.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐
Shew! Gia and Rhett are hot, hot, hot, and listening to Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross as Gia and Rhett just adds to sexy fun. I liked Noah and Carissa from book one, but there's just something about this couple - maybe it was the push and pull between them, maybe it was the chemistry, maybe it was a bit of both. Either way, these two make for a great romance, and I love the way things happen between them. I also really like Gia's backstory. I won't spoil it, but I like the way Nicole Garcia tied it in to her feelings about relationships and trust.
There is a continuing story storyline from the first book, and things ramp up a bit here with a twist I didn't see coming and some action and danger for this coven of vampires. Nicole Garcia doesn't leave us with a cliffy, but there are some unanswered questions and the danger is still up in the air, so I'm interested to see where things go from here.
Of course, we can't talk about an audiobook without mentioning how much Kai and Wen add to anything they narrate. Don't get me wrong, Fallen is an entertaining read anyway, but these two always add that special something extra. I love the way they narrate and breathe life into the characters.
All in all, Fallen is a great addition to a fun series, and I can't wait to see what's next.

Book Description
“Tell me a secret,” I ask.

“I’m falling for you.”

Austin Sexton is a bad-boy media mogul and heir to the Sexton Empire. On the outside, he’s a whiskey-slinging bachelor with the world on a string. Problem is, strings break easily.

Deep within lies a war hero who refuses accolades. He buries his pain with his vices, and against my better judgment, I’ve become one of them.

No matter how hard I try to push him away, his secrets draw me in. This man, who appears careless, has passion. If I were looking for someone in my life, I could see myself falling for a guy like him.

Good thing love is the last thing I’m looking for.

*The Sexton Brothers novels are stand-alone books that can be read in any order.

✱✱AudioBook Review✱✱ Rainy Days by A. S. Kelly

Rainy Days
by: A. S. Kelly
Four Days Series, Book 1
Narrated by Kevin L. Knights

Tormented rock star Liam O'Reilly left Dublin and achieved success, hoping to build a new life free from the demons of his past. Now that it seems he's gotten everything he ever wanted, why isn't he happy? Is it because he's realized the most important thing in his life is the promise he never kept?

Sensitive and damaged Rain O'Donovan lives with her brother and his friends in a tiny seaside town north of Dublin. Once a popular and lively schoolteacher, a car accident has wrecked her life so that her only pleasure is walking in the rain, and her world revolves around mundane tasks, devoid of hope for the future. The amnesia around the time of the accident that changed everything means her struggle with life is a day-to-day torture, and more than anything else, she longs for answers.

When Liam returns to his home town after his two-year absence, he's determined to try to make amends for the terrible mistakes he made. But is it too late to put things right?

Rainy Days is a complete stand-alone and a part of the Four Days series.

Momma Says: 3 stars⭐⭐⭐

I finished this one with mixed feelings. The story is an emotionally charged romance, and the angst is so thick that it's almost palpable. Liam and Rain's story certainly tugs at the heartstrings, but it all becomes a little overwhelming at times. Given the length of the book combined with so much angst, it started to feel like nothing good was ever going to happen for this pair. Even so, I felt like this one didn't quite live up to its potential, but that is due in large part to the narration. From the beginning, it feels almost mechanical with little to no feeling coming through. That, in itself, kept me from connecting to either the story or its characters. So much so that I stopped listening several times before finally finishing. In the end, I think this one would've been much better had I just read it myself, which I may do to see how I feel about the book that way. As it stands, the narration was disappointing at best and leaves me with something that I can't say I'd recommend.

✱✱AudioBook Review✱✱ Vanilla Clouds by Roe Horvat

Vanilla Clouds
By: Roe Horvat
Narrated by: Vance Bastian

“I could spend days listening to you talk about chocolate.”
Sex and chocolate are the two pleasures MichaÅ‚ enjoys most in life.
His sex life has been nonexistent for some time, though. After a particularly bad hookup, he keeps mostly to himself. That leaves chocolate. Luckily, he works surrounded by the most delicious, extravagant produce in Gothenburg. Beside his job at the chocolaterie, his main source of excitement is his online friend, Magnus, whom he stubbornly refuses to meet in person.
A customer turns up at the chocolaterie one day - tall, shy, and charming. He could be just the right man. If MichaÅ‚ can step out of his overly safe shell, there might be not only chocolate, but sex, too. Maybe chocolate-flavored sex. And if he’s lucky, maybe even love.
Warning: This book contains explicit scenes, adult language, and obscene amounts of chocolate.

Momma Says: 3 stars⭐⭐⭐

Vanilla Clouds is a low-angst, lighthearted friends to lovers romance - kind of. Michal and Magnus are online friends until one wants more and the other is afraid of it. The story flows well for the most part with the exception of the online messaging. There is quite a lot of it at the beginning and while I was able to follow it, the rapid fire back and forth of this pair's online relationship doesn't come across as well as I would've liked in the audio format. I don't think that was any fault on the narrator. He did a good job with the characters and story. I feel like it was more due to the fact that it is in the beginning of the story, so I was just getting to know the characters, which made it hard to get into those parts of the book. Once Michal meets a new customer at the chocolaterie, things pick up, and it's easy to see where things are headed. The characters are likable and I did enjoy the romance, but I didn't find anything to set this romance apart from any other like it. What little angst there is comes just as I expected and is resolved very quickly, especially when considering Michal's relatively recent past. Overall, the story is worth the listen and is a good way to while away a couple of hours road trip.
