✱✱AudioBook Review✱✱ Tapped by the Rockstar by Christina Hovland

Tapped by the Rockstar Mile High Rocked, Book 4 By: Christina Hovland Narrated by: Maxine Mitchell & Eric Michael Summerer

Internet fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

As a teenager, Samantha Johnson wrote a song that went viral in all the wrong ways. A pop song about her love of mozzarella sticks. She hoped for adoration, but instead became a joke for an entire generation. She absolutely does not want to be in the limelight ever again. Or even near it. Since then, she's kept mostly to herself. But then she gets set up with a guy who turns out to be a rock star, risking the spotlight falling on her once more.

Dimefront’s awkward drummer, Tanner Penton, never expected to live the rock star life. Even though he's living the dream, he's still fighting his past and the hurt caused by young love. He’d like to figure out how to actually speak to women without getting tongue tied. Unfortunately, his friends covertly fix him up with a woman he can't form a coherent syllable around. He gets flustered, his face heats, and...it's a whole thing.

Tanner must learn how to be authentically himself with Sam if he's going to make this last. And Sam must put the past behind her to figure out if she wants to embrace fame and the man she's falling for, or walk away for good.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐

This couple surprised me. Not because they aren't good together and not because they aren't sexy because they are certainly both those things. The surprise is what a sweet couple they are. It's unusual to find such a sweet romance in a rockstar romance, at least in my experience. The story is also steamy and full of humor, which is just what I needed this week. The residents at Sam's work had me in stitches. They're a sneaky bunch, and it doesn't take long to figure out that Tanner and Sam don't stand a chance once they get started. All that is terrific and makes for a great listen, but my favorite thing about this one is the personal growth of both characters. Tanner and Sam have some things to deal with, and I just really enjoyed how they are each other's strength and support as they grow as a couple.
The narration is as good as the material. I've listened to Maxine Mitchell several times, so I expected and found good things from her. Eric Michael Summerer was new to me, but I thoroughly enjoyed his performance as well. Both narrators brought out all the feels, whether it was tears or well-timed wit or anything in between.
This is book 4 in Christina Hovland's Mile High Rocked series, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone. I haven't had the pleasure of reading the first 3 books yet, but after meeting so many of the characters, I'll certainly be checking them out.

✱✱Audio Book Review✱✱ Forget Me, Sloane by Hannah Gray

Forget Me, Sloane
Brooks University, Book 2
By: Hannah Gray
Narrated by: Joe Arden & Erin Mallon

Five. That’s how old I was when I picked up a ball for the very first time during flag football—something my mom had signed me up for.

Nine. That’s when I decided I’d stop at nothing until I played football at the highest level.

Fifteen. That’s when my father informed me that the only future I had was working at his private investigation firm.

Seventeen. That’s when I tried to escape the future that had been laid out for me. Tried to cut all ties that connected me to my own blood. Spoiler alert: It didn’t work. They still own me.

Eighteen. That’s when I was told if I completed this one job, I’d be cut loose. Free. I’d finally be free. It seemed easy enough.

Then, I meet her. You know, the one who makes you do all kinds of stupid, wacky stuff because you feel things you’ve never felt before. Yeah…that’s the one.

Here’s the real kicker: What happens when the girl you’ve likely already fallen in love with is the one you need to betray in order to leave behind a life you can’t stand?

Well, that’s a damn good question. I’m dying to know myself.

*This is a stand alone novel in the Brooks University series. This is Sloane and Knox's story.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐

A couple of things drew me to this book. I like sports romance, and it's narrated by Joe Arden and Erin Mallon. I always know I can count on these narrators to give a good performance, and they do not disappoint. Erin Mallon captures Sloane's feelings and transformation perfectly. Then there's Joe Arden, and I can't imagine anyone else voicing Knox. From the little quips to the sexy talk to Knox's anguish when he suffers a loss, Joe Arden lays it all out there.
This is my first time reading Hannah Gray's work, and I am impressed. This is not just another sports romance. There's a lot of substance here, and the story gets pretty emotional. Of course, there had to be angst. I mean, it's pretty much a given that Sloane will find out about the ultimatum Knox's father laid down, and it's not hard to figure out that she's going to be upset. So, yeah, angst, but Hannah Gray also knows her stuff when it comes to sarcasm and wit - two of my favorite elements in any genre.
To sum it up, Forget Me, Sloane is an entertaining, steamy romance with engaging characters. Knox and Sloane are a couple you can't help but root for, and I thoroughly enjoyed their story. Now that I've been introduced to Hannah Gray's work, I'll be adding a few more books to my TBR.

BLURB

A bitch list is a list compiled by the woman who hates you and all the reasons WHY she hates you!

Nancy

Sometimes in life, you do things that you deeply regret. Mine is Shaw Jackson, the boy I've hated since senior year.

He drives me crazy to the point that I've started a list of things that I hate about him. It's more a list of derogatory names for him but let's not split hairs.

The problem I have is that while I hate Shaw there are certain parts of his anatomy that I just can't get enough of. Most times when we fight those parts go near my parts and let's just say it's pretty epic.

Seeing as we fight A LOT well, you can guess the rest. But as tempting as he is, I just don't know whether I can trust him and not just with my heart.

Then he surprises me and now I'm totally confused.

It's not wrong to want the boy you hate for his p*nis is it?

Shaw

There's always that girl who tempted you in high school, the one who got away. Mine is Nancy Andrews, the girl who I love to hate.

She drives me crazy but I just love to push her buttons.

The problem is there are parts of her anatomy which I think are magical. They must be because I can't resist them no matter how hard I try.

And I swear I try but I fail A LOT. As beautiful as she is though I'm pretty sure we'd kill each other if we spent any length of time together.

Then I receive a huge shock and Nancy steps up to the plate and now I'm totally confused.

It's not wrong to constantly think about the girl who hates you, is it?

Check out the Love In Dayton Valley series!!! https://amzn.to/3EJKIKG

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐

Welcome to Dayton Valley, where the women are feisty, and the men have a knack for saying exactly the wrong thing. Oh, and the parents are as rambunctious as teenagers! This fourth Love in Dayton Valley book is Nancy and Shaw's love story - or fight to the bitter end, denying every feeling while falling hard for each other. These two are a riot with witty banter, and the chemistry is off the charts. There's a thin line between love and hate, and this pair stomps all over it. Shaw and Nancy run into a lot of misunderstandings, including the thing that started the friction between them. I'm not usually a fan of misunderstandings and miscommunication as a cause for the angst in a relationship, but it works for this couple. And it makes for some great banter between them. This latest RomCom in the series is just one more reason to love the characters, the setting, the romance, and the laughs. This, like its predecessors, is a great way to escape the grind of everyday life for a little while, and I know I'll come back to visit from time to time.

✱✱Book Review✱✱ Love In Dayton Valley Series by Nikki Ashton

You can have feelings for the girl you’re not supposed to touch, right?

Ellie
First there’s my parents and their penchant for making out in public, totally gross. Then there’s my douche of a brother, who shouldn’t be allowed near any woman with a pulse. Bronte my best friend is lusting over a silver fox … And then of course there’s Hunter Delaney.
Hunter. Hunter. Hunter.
He’s not officially mine, but that’s not to say I want him to belong to anyone else either. As we work together on a way to stop Bronte’s demented plan to date Hunter’s dad, we get closer, and closer… until the lines of friendship are well and truly blurred.
Friends can be lovers, right?

Hunter
I’m a cowboy, I love my job, I adore my two crazy aunts and I idolize my pop, even if he’s getting more action than I am. Life is great, except I have a problem and it’s called Ellie Maples. She’s my best friend’s little sister, but you know that line you’re not supposed to cross…? Yeah, that one. Well, I’m getting pretty close to jumping it.
You can have feelings for the girl you’re not supposed to touch, right?

Welcome to Dayton Valley… where the men are hard, and the women are horny.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐

I don't know how I missed Nikki Ashton before now, but this series has her firmly on my radar. I expected a steamy romance/chick-lit type of story, and I got that, but I didn't expect it to be nearly as funny as it is. This first Love in Dayton Valley book had me laughing all the way through. It's maybe a little long for a RomCom, but it's loads of fun - even the angst is funny. Hunter and Ellie are a cute couple. There are lots of fireworks, both verbal and sexual as this pair pushes back and forth. Ellie is maybe a little too stubborn, and some things are over the top, but I was thoroughly invested in this couple. Then we have the town, which is practically a character all its own. It's packed full of quirky characters of all ages, but the over 40 crowd steals the show pretty much every time they hit the page. Ellie's parents and Hunter's aunts are absolute hoots. So, if you need to lighten your mood with a few laughs and you want a story to get lost in for a bit of escapism, The Triple Threat is a good bet.

It’s okay to play dirty to get what you want, right?

Bronte

There are not enough words in the English language to describe how much Carter Maples irritates me. He’s my best friend’s brother and growing up together all we’ve ever done is fight. Want to know a secret though – damn that boy is hot. So hot I only went and did the one thing I thought I’d never, ever do. Yep, I fell in love with the beautiful redhead. How stupid can one girl be? Pretty damn stupid actually, and now we have to deal with the consequences. Trouble is, I may love him but he’s also selfish and immature. I’m not sure he’s ready to grow up, so I’m just going to have to dump his ass.

Wanting to be independent isn’t stupid, right?

Carter

I’m Dayton Valley’s vet and when I’m not saving animals, I’m loving the crap out of Bronte Jackson – or Lollipop as I like to call her because that girl has skills you wouldn’t believe. We weren’t supposed to end up together, but I guess the stars aligned and…bam! We love each other, pretty fierce, but Houston we have a problem and it’s a pretty big one. Bronte doesn’t think I can deal so has kicked me to the curb, but I’m determined to get her back.

It’s okay to play dirty to get what you want, right?

Dayton Valley… where the men are hard, and the women are horny

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐

This second Love in Dayton Valley book gives us a surprise baby for Bronte and Carter. These two butt heads nearly as often as they fall all over each other, and they find themselves in some hilarious situations. I'll admit that I wasn't crazy about Carter at first. I didn't really care for him in the first Dayton Valley book, finding him rude and self-centered. Honestly, he's still rude and somewhat self-centered here, but it turns out that he is redeemable. I guess the best way to sum up my feelings about Carter is that I wouldn't choose him for me, but he and Bronte fit perfectly. She's strong enough that she doesn't let him by with anything, and he works hard to prove himself. The Jackpot Screwer is as funny as I expected after what I found in the first book, and I love that Nikki Ashton uses so many real-life situations for the humor. Those situations may be over the top sometimes, but they're still laugh-out-loud funny. And I've gotta say that I'm totally smitten with this town. It's a great place to visit when you need to laugh.

Distracting your son’s wedding planner with an orgasm isn’t wrong, right?

Kitty

I’m back to live and work in the place I called home as a kid, Dayton Valley. I hadn’t realized how much I’d missed it, or the people. One person in particular—Jefferson Delaney. He was hot at fifteen, but now at forty-eight, damn he’s matured well.

I don’t think my lady parts will ever get over our reunion. Let’s just say we wasted no time in getting to know each other again.

Having sex with your high school boyfriend after thirty years apart isn’t too forward, right?

Jefferson

When I was fifteen there was a girl who rocked my world. She left and I got over it. Now she’s back and boy did she grow up—curves to die for and lips for sin.

As she’s planning my son’s wedding, I know I should keep it professional. Sometimes though, you’ve just gotta go with your gut, and when a woman needs some special kind of attention, it really doesn’t matter how swift the reunion!

Distracting your son’s wedding planner with an orgasm isn’t wrong, right?

Dayton Valley… where the men are hard, and the women are horny

Momma Says: 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I started hoping for Jefferson's book as soon as I met him in the first Love in Dayton Valley romance, and Nikki Ashton doesn't disappoint. To start, just look at that cover! All the covers in this series have been fabulous, but this one is a special kind of hot, especially if you're partial to cowboys. I would've been drawn to this one based on the cover alone, but it doesn't stop there. The sexy that is Jefferson Delaney comes through the pages so loud and clear that I thought more than once how lucky Kitty is. That said, this one was emotional for me. I can relate to Jefferson's circumstances with a loss even more recent than his, so Nikki Ashton's well-timed wit and talent for creating hilarious situations were greatly appreciated. It kept the emotion from being overwhelming. Jefferson and Kitty make a great couple, and they're around my own age, which isn't always easy to find in romance these days. So far, Jefferson and Kitty are my favorite Dayton Valley couple. Of course, we get some time with other quirky characters in this crazy town., which is something I've started to look forward to. The many colorful characters are some of my favorite things about this series. I find myself looking forward to time with Ellie's parents, Bronte's younger brother, Hunter's aunts... the list goes on, but suffice it to say that whether you come for the romance, the town, the steam, or a combination of all of it, you can't go wrong with this series.

✱✱Book Review✱✱ The Chameleon Effect by Joe Arden

Lights. Camera. Action

I've got everything it takes to make it in Tinseltown: confidence, charisma, and a killer chin. Now all I need is a chance.
But Los Angeles is full of hot, young hunks, and talent might not be enough to separate me from the cookie-cutter crowd.

Well, you know what they say: fake it till you make it.

So I devise a wild scheme to get noticed. Pretend I’m someone I'm not—goodbye Will O’Connell of Cincinnati and hello Liam O’Connell of Dublin.

‘Liam’ and his talent with accents is enough to get my
foot in the door, but I never anticipated meeting the woman who has me more worried about keeping my foot out of my mouth.

Enter Raven Locke, the dark-haired bombshell who puts the ‘tude in tattooed.
On set, she’s the costumer tasked with fitting my pants, but all I can think about is how to get into hers.
As my -- I mean, Liam’s -- budding career begins to heat up, so do our feelings.
While Raven pursues her passion for fashion; I chase her heart.

Our picture-perfect screenplay seems sure to send us riding off onto Sunset Boulevard…
Until Raven finds out that Comedy and Tragedy aren’t the only masks I'm wearing. Our romance might be destined for the cutting room floor, unless I can salvage our story with a plot twist she won't see coming.

The Chameleon Effect is the debut solo novel from acclaimed, award-winning romance narrator, Joe Arden.
A secret identity romance from the man with the secret identity!

This male POV rom-com has it all: lots of heat, plenty of heart, and a Hollywood-worthy HEA.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Chameleon Effect is easily read in an evening, which is a good thing because I pretty much gobbled it up. And I've gotta be honest - I enjoyed the way Will and Raven's relationship progressed; I enjoyed the steamy goodness; I even enjoyed the angst. but I seriously would've read this book just for Lexi. I had one of those too smart for their own good little girls, and even though she's now completely grown, she hasn't outgrown the snark and sass. So, Lexi was kind of like a trip down memory lane for me. Plus, she pretty much stole every scene she's in. As much as I loved Lexi, I was invested in Will and Raven getting their HEA as well. It was easy to see where things were going and what was going to be the source of the angst between these two, so I wasn't surprised when it happened. Will is such a sweetheart that I was ready to throw my own hat in the ring had Raven not forgiven him (just sayin').
The story is sweet, funny, and sexy. Of course, I would expect nothing less from the man whose sexy tones have so brilliantly voiced so many romance characters. If you enjoy romantic comedy, I'd highly recommend Joe Arden's solitary debut. I know I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it, and I'll be on the lookout for whatever he does next.
