Once again, Tiffany Shand gives us the supernatural, a bit of magic, some mystery, and secrets - lots of secrets - and blends it seamlessly with fantastic world building. The characters are interesting and complex with an equally interesting mystery to solve. We even get a bit of chemistry in a possible blooming romance. The story moves at a good pace as Nick takes Zoe under his wing while also investigating murder. Zoe gets her lessons in the supernatural on the fly and has to learn fast or face a less than favorable decision from the Circle. This is the beginning of the series, so there are unanswered questions and things are most definitely not tied up in a neat little bow. This author is quite talented at bringing us right to edge of the cliff, giving a little push, and leaving us hanging on for what comes next. That is certainly the case here and I can't wait to see what's next for this magical world.
