This debut novel by DeAnna Browne is everything a good Urban Fantasy should be. It's wonderfully written, the characters are complex, the world-building is excellent, and the story starts out with a bang and doesn't let up. We even get a bit of romance as our heroine, Becca, has feelings for her childhood sweetheart and her ex-boyfriend. We do have an open-ended conclusion as this is the first book in a series, but that didn't prevent me from thoroughly enjoying this one from beginning to end. With a world ruled by magic and so many interesting characters, I can't wait to see where this one goes.
