✱✱Audio Book Review✱✱ Game Changer by Piper Lawson

Game Changer
King of the Court, Book 1
By: Piper Lawson
Narrated by: Lance Greenfield & Carly Robins

A steamy, grumpy sunshine sports romance featuring a woman down on her luck, a star basketball player with a filthy mouth, and a connection neither of them can deny

After being dumped and losing my job the same week, the last thing my broken heart needs is a rebound.

I'm escaping across the country to help my perfect sister plan her dream wedding, and to prove to both of us everything is under control.

But a combination of tequila and turbulence on the flight there lead to word-vomiting all my troubles to the huge and handsome stranger in the first-class seat next to mine.

Only his whispered dirty diversions keep me sane until landing.

Despite the spark of attraction, we go our separate ways.

Or so I thought.

Turns out the tall, muscular, tattooed tower of a man from the plane is the star player on my future brother-in-law's pro basketball team.

Clay is the last person I should gravitate toward. They're called "players" for a reason.

Grumpy and cynical, he carries a weight on his shoulders I can't possibly fathom.

He's also the only one who knows my secrets and gets my heart racing.

The more we're thrust together, the stronger the chemistry between us becomes.

Hooking up with the all-star athlete isn't the way to get my life on track...but it could just be the game changer we've both been searching for.

Game Changer is a grumpy sunshine sports romance and book 1 in the King of the Court trilogy. Clay and Nova's steamy, banter-filled story continues in Shot Taker and concludes in Play Maker.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nova and Clay for the win! Umm... kinda, maybe? Since this is the first in the trilogy and ends in a cliffhanger, I guess we'll have to wait and see. And I'm one of the not-so-patiently waiting readers/listeners.
Both characters have their share of baggage, so I'm glad to see that they'll have plenty of time to work through it and, hopefully, get on firmer ground. They're also both likable, and you can't help but root for them - together and separately. This one also has its share of secondary characters - some more likable than others, but I can't say that there are really any throwaway characters in this one. Everyone lends something to the story, and whether I like them or not, none are forgettable.
I've enjoyed everything I've read or listened to by Piper Lawson, and Game Changer is just one more reason why. It's well-written, the story flows wonderfully, and the characters practically leap off the page.
Since I had the privilege of listening to this one, I have to give some credit to the narrators, Lance Greenfield and Carly Robins, for their terrific performances. I've listened to both narrators before, but I don't think I've heard them on the same book. It's dual narration, not duet, but these two still complement each other very well, and I enjoyed every minute of this one.
Between Piper Lawson's writing, and Lance Greenfield and Carly Robins bringing the whole thing to life, this is an unforgettable listen, and I can't wait for whatever comes next for Clay and Nova.
