He only wanted to purchase a novel, now he’s falling madly in love…

Anthony Gibbs, Duke of Westcliffe, needs an income. Bills must be paid, appearances kept, and arrangements made for his sisters' debuts. In short, he must either marry or seek employment, neither of which sounds remotely compelling. But then he meets Ada and she suggests a third option. Now he's penning a novel while losing his heart to the bookish miss, a woman he cannot afford to marry unless he’s prepared to make some difficult choices.

Ada Quinn has no connections, no dowry, and consequently no prospects. Her plan for the future is limited to her skill as a bookbinder. Until Mr. Gibbs walks into her uncle’s bookshop and starts to romance her. Handsome, thoughtful, and utterly charming, Mr. Gibbs is precisely the sort of man Ada always dreamed of falling in love with. Until she discovers he’s not who he claims to be and that he intends to marry another.

Burned out from ministering to people? Living in survival mode?

Are you serving as a pastor, worship leader, counselor, working with teens or children, or ministering regularly to people in some capacity, and often feel like quitting?

Live Ever-Fresh is the fruit of Pastor Kathy Moore's journey in overcoming ministry burnout. She has served in church leadership/ministry for over 32 years and understands the complexity of challenges all types of leaders face.

  - Discover and change the unhealthy mindsets that lead to burnout

  - Develop vital skills that will empower you for healthy communication, boundaries, and maintaining passion as you minister to people

  - Learn to live as "His ever-fresh lily thriving on His love!" Song of Songs 2:1

What might ministry burnout look like?

   Do you have an internal critic telling you that you should be doing more? Do you feel obligated to help?

   Do you struggle with feeling used, taken advantage of, or not appreciated?

   Are you driven by a need to please people and feel guilty when you say "no" to helping?

   Do you find yourself rehashing conversations in your head or preoccupied with peoples problems?

   Do you feel drained from carrying so many responsibilities and wearing so many hats?

   Do you find yourself wanting to avoid the very people you use to love talking to and helping?

If you answered "yes" to 2 or more of these questions, then this book is for you.

Introduction: Elijah’s Cry Was

My Cry Too

______________________

“I’ve have had enough, Lord, …take my life,” Elijah cried out in desperation. In 1 Kings 19:4 NIV, Elijah had reached his lowest point and was ready to give up. I thought about Elijah as I spoke those same words to my precious Jesus, “I’ve had enough! I’m done. I quit.” Elijah had experienced some amazing victories and seen God do awesome things, and so had I. Then, his enemy, Jezebel, sought to kill him, and he became afraid. Feeling alone in his battle, he ran for his life. I remember wrestling with the Lord as Elijah did that day. Battle weary, I wanted to quit the ministry and get off the front lines. Yet, my greatest desire was to please Jesus, and He always met me in my place of struggle. One of my most powerful God encounters happened in one of my dark moments of pain.

Every leader I know has gone through seasons of wanting to quit. Sadly, many have. Burnout has led many beautiful, gifted, anointed leaders to leave the ministry. God has called me to share the process He took me through to help others avoid or overcome ministry burnout. Get ready to go on a powerful journey to learn how to live ever-fresh, my friends.

According to a Barna Survey

(11-16-2021)

38% of pastors want to quit.

You will discover and replace key unhealthy mindsets that lead to burn out and develop skills that will lead you from survival mode to enjoying and living powerfully in Christ again. Think about dandelions in the spring. You go out and mow your beautiful, green lawn, and then a week later, one by one, all those dandelions have popped up again. What do you need to do to get rid of a dandelion for good? You must pull it up from the roots to get rid of it. That’s where our journey will begin too. We are going after the roots: the unhealthy mindsets lurking below the surface. We will explore some truths that the enemy had twisted into an unhealthy extreme—in me and others I know—to wear out Father’s compassionate and mercy-filled servants.

With each truth, I will be giving you some action steps to take in each chapter. This is vital, because it’s the application that leads to transformation.

Additionally, I will share some truth statements for you to intentionally speak out loud. Doing this will build strongholds of truth to replace the unhealthy mindsets. I call them freedom statements because it’s the truth you truly know that sets you free (John 8:32)!

Lastly, I have included a prayer in each chapter to make room for Jesus to minister to you. Ready, set, let’s go, beloved ones!

Get unfiltered broadcasting and career advice with this biting and provocative firsthand account of working in media.

Paul Burton has 45 years under his belt, including 10 as a regional editor for New York City-based trade publication, Bond Buyer, and he’s survived—and thrived—to tell the tale. From his humble beginnings to his rise in the industry, Burton covers a lot of ground in his stories, from dealing with people in media and finance to workers in tech and personnel. He not only gives honest insights about financial news but also reveals the controversial internal politics of journalism and publishing that run rampant.

Burton’s wisdom on topics such as covering hot-button issues and fighting against negative stereotypes proves that a career in media is just like the news itself: eclectic, bold, and unexpected.

Take part in the drama and missteps that are a part of success in one of the best journalistic memoirs about business on the market.

About the Author

I am a retired journalist and author of two books, the most recent, “Fiascoes and Foibles: An Unfiltered Look at Public Finance, Media, Politics and Sports” (Elite Authors). It came out last Nov. 28. My earlier book was “Tales from the Newsrooms: An Offbeat Look” (Create Space), in 2011.

“Fiascoes,” a collection of anecdotal essays, reflects largely on my coverage of U.S. public finance over the last 10 years of my career – as a regional editor for a business publication in the shadow of Wall Street – against the backdrop of my 45 years in media. They capture drama, missteps and intrigue I encountered with color and biting, irreverent humor. Plenty of attitude. Topics range from transit/infrastructure to media and politics, and also include broadcasting and podcast dynamics, the alarming clout of tech bureaucracies, the abject failure of open-plan office layouts in the workplace and how my early days in sports journalism shaped and benefited my career.

Unique to my perspective is my blue-collar background. The media employs precious few people from working backgrounds these days. I didn’t go to Harvard, Duke or Stanford and prance right into the New York Times or Wall Street Journal. I was the son of a bartender who navigated a winding road, often working for small-to-medium media outlets who punched above their weight class, and frequently landed a rewarding knockout punch.

by Alysha Potente

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Poetry
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This poetry book has a total of over 130 poems, and most feature alongside: beautiful photography art. All of the poems are different from the next, in meaning and technique.

Analytical in nature, each poem dives into various topics. With this are also syllable counts, where the number of syllables per line are counted and arranged. This brings forward a technical side to poetry writing, where it is precise and balanced.

It is a skill that requires practice, where you hear the word for what it is, using mathematics while rhyming words together. All of the poetry features different rhyming forms.

EXCERPT (Exclusive Excerpt):

SOMEONE IS WEARING A MASK..

Acting happy to the community..

When you’re actually breaking inside..

You smile at an opportunity..

These sorrowful emotions you hide..

If awards were given you’d get one..

You prepare your speech with hoisted words..

There’s darkness within without the sun..

When true feelings arise it diverts..

For someone is wearing a mask..

But it honestly will not last..

Is it one of those fancy types?..

Is it one of those beauty hypes?..

Is it made of glitz or greater?..

Is it made of pure formed nature?..

Many materials cover..

Many hidden things to discover..

Acting all fine to the outside world..

This concealed pain has been bandaged up..

People see you as a happy girl..

When you’re alone tears fill up your cup..

Expressing a different version..

Completely vulnerable at night..

The day is a total diversion..

Projecting within a constant fight..

For someone is wearing a mask..

It's become a difficult task..

Is it one of those to protect?..

Is it one of those for affect?..

Is it made of polyester?..

Is it made of bright treasure?..

Quite a few items can conceal..

Quite a few things are to reveal..

Syllables= 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9.. 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8.. 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9, 9.. 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8, 8= patterns.

Every two lines rhyme together second and fourth verse. Rhymes 1st-3rd lines and 2nd-4th   (repeated pattern) in the first and third verse.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Alysha has been a self- taught creative writer, since the age of 16, in her hometown of Perth, Australia. Her passion for it developed on its own, the need to express herself in a different way other than verbally, was what motivated her to keep up this passion. The use of words was captivating for expression and the love of rhymes was also heard by ear.

Alysha's first poetry book that she read was actually in Primary School and it was called 'Revolting rhymes', which was a retake on nursery rhymes but in a humorous way. This book started this creative side in her at a young age, that, and also her love for art in general.

In 2015 she studied a short course at Berklee, where she was introduced to the notion of syllable counts. In fact, though she had actually been doing syllable counts unconsciously with her poetry in general. By using the same measurement of lines going off of sight, had in turn created similar syllable counts/patterns in her work.

Her book 'Mind Expressions' is a technical side of poetry writing that's come to life. It's the use of mathematics, along with creative writing. She wanted to give the reader a breakdown of each poem within, in order for them to delve into each poem further and analyse it using a different set of eyes. The poems are analytical in nature, along with syllable counts (some perfect) and perfect rhymes. This really showcases poetry at the highest skill.

Alysha is multi-talented in Art itself and is also a perfectionist. For where her passion lies in different artforms, is where she crafts her skills to a perfection standpoint.

From Harlequin Intrigue: Seek thrills. Solve crimes. Justice served.

Discover more action-packed stories in the San Antonio Security series. All books are stand-alone with uplifting endings but were published in the following order:

Book 1: Texas Bodyguard: Luke
Book 2: Texas Bodyguard: Brax
Book 3: Texas Bodyguard: Weston
Book 4: Texas Bodyguard: Chance

Momma Says: 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've been waiting for this book since Chance and Maci were first introduced to the series. That much fire between them pretty much guaranteed some fireworks., and of course, Janie Crouch delivered. These two have great chemistry, and it was interesting waiting for them to get out of their own way. The romance is every bit as good as I expect from this author, and we get some heart-pounding danger to go along with the fire between Chance and Maci.
As good as the romance and suspense are in this whole series, my favorite part is the Patterson family and al;l the feels that go along with them. Janie has a way with characters and bringing them to life, and that talent shines in this series. Each book is a standalone, but I'd recommend reading them all. You won't want to miss this wonderful family and the bonds between them.
