Blog Tour: The Black Hand by Jonathan Dunne

The Black Hand
by Jonathan Dunne

In the aftermath of Ireland’s most deadly gang war, Dublin’s ruling family has scattered to the wind.

Into the void steps a criminal genius known only as The Black Hand. His organisation’s powerful grip is ruthless, bloody and barbaric.

With Europe’s biggest crime in play, The Devil needs a distraction. And The Black Hand needs Jacob Boylan to return to Irish shores. He will stop at nothing to provoke Dublin’s most lethal criminal out of hiding.

But has the wily genius misstepped? As all eyes are on Jacob, the Dublin exile carefully plans
a gangland wipeout, for he is nobody’s pawn.

Please tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up in Dublin’s inner city, Ireland. I grew up in a big family under the watchful gaze of
my grandmother. Even though they didn’t know it - there where some great story tellers in my
area.
Whether it was a daring caper or a tale of a two local hardmen clashing -there was never a dull
moment.
With so many people living in such close proximity -it was an eventful childhood. We kept
ourselves entertained among the abandoned buildings and smoky docks of East Wall and
Sheriff Street.
School introduced me to the world of books but once I fell into the pages of a novel – school
became stifled and oppressive. I was expelled from a number of schools and was gone by the
time I was 14.
However I went back as an adult and discovered a love of writing…four books later…here I am.
My area was a tough area and it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows however it left me with so
much material -I’ll be writing for the rest of my life.

What are your hobbies/interests?
Reading, movies, politics, sports and chess…nothing special or unusual.

Books or movies – which do you prefer? Do you have a favorite?
I’ve been reading for nearly thirty years – I’m never not reading. Favourite Author? John
Connolly and the Charlie Parker Series. Never read a book like the Girl with the dragon tattoo.
Jack London’s White Fang…Oh the list is endless.

If you could meet one famous person, past or present, who would it be and why?
Dr Noel Browne. An unsung Irish hero who was responsible for eradicating Tuberculosis in
Ireland. Amazing man.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I get my ass kicked at least twice a week by some of my closest friends…I’ll let that hang there

What inspired you to write The Black Hand?
The lure of a dark overlord has always intrigued me. The master criminal pulling the strings
in the background is a fascinating concept. When we were kids there was always a daring
thief or a secretive figure who everyone spoke about – some just faded whilst others went on
to notoriety but it was a deep well of history and Criminal folklore.

What is your favorite part of the writing/publishing process?
Writing in seclusion. Everything else is just white noise.
What is your least favorite part of the writing/publishing process?
Pounding the pavement and flogging my wares as a writer.

If you could thank one person who has inspired/helped you along this path, who
would it be?
My uncle John.

Any advice for aspiring authors?
Just write…once you start…you’re a writer.
