Age gap romance is one of my favorite tropes in the genre, but I'll admit going into this one with some trepidation about Ash's age. Happily, Leddy Harper blew my expectations completely out of the water with this one - I guess that's what I get for making assumptions, right? Ash has a good head on his shoulders and he and Kristy have great chemistry right from the start. While the attraction is obvious and there's lots of flirting and sexy talk, this one is closer to a slow burn romance with the way things take place. We do have some angst, but we also get some fun and witty dialogue to keep things from getting too heavy. I was surprised at the lack of secondary characters in this one. Oh, they're around and a couple are big factors in whether this romance can succeed, but appearances are minimal. This is first and foremost Ash and Kristy's story, and the more I read, the more invested in their success I became. In the end, this one was nothing that I expected - in a very good way, and it left me with a smile.
