The Vampire's Executioner
Book 1 in The Somerset Supernaturals Series
by Isadora Brown
He wants nothing more than to sink his teeth into her flesh and turn her into what he was - a vampire. But he can't. And she wants nothing more than to run away from this assignment. But she won't.
Elizabeth Grant is a top-rated assassin at the Nocturnal Defense Society. When she gets an assignment to protect Nikolai Dragulia – next in line to inherit the crown and rule over vampire society – she balks. Being a royal babysitter to a mysterious, brooding, arrogant prince is not what she signed up for, but an assignment is an assignment, and she’s a professional. As Lizzie looks deeper into possible suspects and motives, she realizes this is more than just a babysitting job but something that, if not resolved, can affect the entire vampire race.
The last thing Nikolai Dragulia needs is a babysitter, even one as gorgeous as she is infuriating. But his life has been threatened, and as heir to a timeless legacy, Nikolai is forced to do what he must for his family, even if that means enduring Lizzie Grant and her salty attitude. As motives become clear and familial bonds become tested and secrets are revealed, Nikolai realizes Lizzie is really the only person he can trust.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐
I read this one as An Education in Royalty and read it again for this re-release. While the storyline remains the same, the book has been edited and has improved in both grammar and continuity. Lizzie and Nikolai's story kicks off the Somerset Supernatural series and sets the stage for suspense and intrigue surrounding the NDS and supernatural world. There are some things that don't exactly add up on the surface but when added together, they hint at something more going on behind the scenes. On the romance side of this one we get the Vampire Prince and the assassin/bodyguard. Lizzie and Nikolai are both strong-willed and they certainly do their share of clashing, but they also have chemistry and an undeniable attraction. All in all, The Vampire's Executioner is a solid intro to Brown's world of supernaturals and I'll be interested to see what changes are in store for the rest of this series.
