✱✱Book Review✱✱ Reunion: A Ghostly Gay Halloween Romance by Declan Rhodes

Five years ago on Halloween, Jake Harmon’s partner, Dylan, perished when he wrapped his car around a steadfast maple tree. Each year, Jake makes a week-long pilgrimage to Dylan’s hometown of Port Timothy, Maine, hoping to ease some of the pain.

On his fifth annual trip, Jake finds his bed and breakfast host, Patrick O’Hare, impossibly attractive, and, in some ways, disquietingly familiar. As the week unfolds, secrets emerge, ghosts appear, and stories are told leading up to a fateful Halloween night.

Reunion is a 30,000-word paranormal gay romance novella with trick-or-treating, friendly ghosts, and a mysterious second chance.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐

Reunion is surprisingly serious for what I expected to be a fun Halloween novella. Don't get me wrong, it is a fun and engaging story, but Jake's grief was emotional for me. I can certainly relate to his pain and the need to revisit places with happier memories. But don't think this is all a big tear-jerker because it's not. Those more serious moments are tempered with wit, a bit of romance, and some meddling loved ones from beyond the grave. The ghosts and the reason for the meddling is what this one is really all about, and since this is a novella, I won't give any more spoilers. Suffice it to say, this is an entertaining romance just in time for the season. and true-to-form, Declan Rhodes gives us characters we can like and root for.
