✱✱Book Review✱✱ Abel by Laramie Briscoe

A year worth of flirting comes down to this kiss...

I've eaten more tacos the past year than I have my entire life. It's not because I love those little handfuls of goodness (although I do). It's because of the woman who runs the local food truck
Let's Taco Bout It. Seeing her makes my day, and while I can't admit my feelings, I can at least see her smile.

Until Halloween. When a man gives her attention she doesn't want, she pretends we're together, and lays a kiss on me that I'll never forget.

I've spent the last year watching the hottie in the constantly torn and dirty jeans shyly walking up to my food truck and ordering the same thing each time. I've done my best to drag him out of his shell, but nothing works until a night of unwanted attention forces me to make a move.

Now? He's hanging around even more, and when his husky voice calls me
his girlfriend? I melt into a puddle, and he's the only one who can pick me up and put me back together again.

Tropes Included

Abel is book two in The Broken Falls Series: a series of interconnected standalones following a group of friends who have become family in small-town West Virginia, and the women who bring them to their knees. You do not have to read them in order, but each book builds upon the relationships of the last.

One of my favorite things about Laramie Briscoe's books is how relatable her characters are. They're down to earth people with regular everyday jobs and regular everyday problems. It also doesn't hurt that, as a fellow Kentucky girl, I totally get the small towns and rural areas in so many of her books. That's the case with Abel, book 2 in the Broken Falls series. It's full of down-to-earth characters - the kind of characters that I find super easy to root for. Abel and Kara are such a sweet couple, and their story is an easy read. The angst is low, and the romance is both sweet and sexy. I'm really enjoying this series, and I can't wait to visit Broken Falls again.

I’m old enough to be her father, and a life-long confirmed bachelor, but after one night together, all that is about to change.

Boone Wilson

Instead of building my forever with a conventional family, I’ve dedicated my life to being the best father I can to the son I had way too early in life. Now that he’s grown, I’m giving all I can to my job. I make a construction site run smoothly, and can build anything with a couple pieces of wood and my imagination.

My world is small and calm. That’s how I like it. Until Alexis Monroe barrels her way into my peaceful existence and turns my world upside down.

Alexis Monroe

Since graduating college I’ve been hustling, trying to make a dent in the crippling student loan debt I’ve accumulated. Just when I think I’m about to hit major burnout, Boone Wilson walks into the bar I sling drinks at.

His swagger and quiet self-assuredness is a flame that draws me to him.

All I can do now? Try not to get burned.

The Broken Falls Series is a new small-town, steamy, blue collar romance series set in the fictional town of Broken Falls, WV from USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Laramie Briscoe.

I absolutely love Boone and Alexis. I'm partial to age-gap romance, and I've liked everything I've read by Laramie Briscoe, so I fully expected to like Boone. And I did! Right from the start, I was hooked and rooting for this couple. Their flirting is great, and the heat between them is almost palpable. I love that Boone isn't afraid to go for what he wants, and he and Alexis have such good chemistry that I couldn't help but root for their HEA. As the beginning of a series, Laramie Briscoe has set the bar high for whatever's to come because Boone is a definite must-read.
