The Last to See Her

by Courtney Evan Tate

A woman disappears into the dark city night…

Gen is on the verge of a divorce from her cheating husband. When her sister, Meg, has a convention to attend in the Big Apple, she invites Gen along to celebrate her newly found freedom. But the perfect sisters’ getaway quickly goes awry when a tipsy Gen defiantly throws her wedding ring off the hotel room’s balcony. Then, wanting some fresh air, she decides to take a late-evening walk alone and vanishes without a trace.

The investigation that follows uncovers secrets—and betrayals—between sisters and spouses that will twist the truth in on itself until nothing is clear.

What really happened to Gen and who, besides Meg, was the last to see her?

Momma Says: 2 stars⭐⭐

The Last to See Her had promise, and I was hoping for a gripping thriller. Unfortunately, it never quite got there. It started out well enough, and with the right twists and development, it could've been great. Instead, it just went bad - eyerollingly bad. With investigators who could give Barney Fife a run for his money and characters unlikeable enough to make it hard to care one way or the other what happened, it became a challenge to even finish this one. It started to feel like a mish-mash of possibilities, like throw everything at us and hope something sticks. Instead, it ended up being choppy and tangled. And repetitive, very repetitive. I don't know, maybe if I could've thrown belief out the window, I would've enjoyed this one more, or maybe this just wasn't the story for me right now. Either way, it did not work for me at all.
