Will a threat to London’s life lead her to love? London Scott’s routine, boring life gets a jolt when her niece discovers a woman’s body while out hiking with her boyfriend. It’s just her luck, though, that it’s Sebastian Archer who investigates the murder. Having known the man since childhood, she’s always been the annoying tagalong. Even though she finds him drop-dead sexy, that’s a ship that can never sail now that she’s guardian to her niece and his goddaughter. Two years ago, Seb moved home to take the position as local sheriff, ready for a slower pace and to be closer to his family. That included his best friend’s sister, London. The beautiful innkeeper had held his heart since they were young, but the timing never felt right to start something. When a serial killer murders a woman in his jurisdiction who bears a striking resemblance to London, Seb realizes he could lose her before they ever get a chance. Will London’s reluctance to date the handsome sheriff deliver her into the hands of a psychopath?

When not writing, you can usually find me with my nose stuck in a book or watching some terrible disaster movie on SyFy. I also love baseball, crafting, and cooking. I live in Ohio with my husband, two kids, three cats, and one very wild shepherd mix. Life is busy and I wouldn't have it any other way.

After 20+ years as professional NYC actor, I stumbled into some documentary voiceover work. From that moment on, I knew the trajectory of my career had been changed forever. I adore narrating and doing VO, and every job feels like a gift.

Momma Says: 4 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love stories set in small towns, especially in a series. So, A Beautiful End is right up my alley. It’s full of engaging characters who I definitely want to see more of in future books. Plus, this is romantic suspense, which is one of my favorite genres. It’s also a brother’s best friend/best friend’s sister story, which wouldn’t make much difference to me except that it does play a part in Seb and London’s relationship – or more like their resistance to start a relationship. This pair has a shared tragedy in their past, which is part of the reason they take so long to get together, but I’ll admit that I wanted to give London a good shake and tell her to grab that man up and don’t let go. Of course, if Seb and London had gotten together on page two it wouldn’t be much of a romance, would it?
The suspense part of this one surrounds the hunt for a serial killer who may be targeting London. We get several edge of your seat situations as well as a red herring or two, and Seb has his work cut out for him if he’s gonna find this creepy bad guy before someone else dies. I did figure it out, but that didn’t diminish my enjoyment of the story. Half the fun for me is trying to suss out the bad guy and then getting to the end to see if I’m right. One thing’s for sure, this is one creepy dude, and twisted is putting it mildly.
Jenn Lee does the narration for A Beautiful End, and I believe this is my first time listening to her. She’s easy to listen to, and while the story is interesting in its own right, I feel like her performance adds another layer to the book. You can hear the tension as it rises throughout the story, and when the big moment comes toward the end, she adds the perfect amount of emotion and intensity.
To sum it up, this is my first experience with both this author and this narrator, and I will definitely be watching for more of them. The book is well written and suspenseful, and it’s full of engaging characters as well as being a story I will come back to when I want to revisit this small town and its inhabitants.
